We recently discovered this pair of artists at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, London. Christine & Tom both paint these paintings together. With Tom painting the base and setting out the layout, then Christine will come and create the story. They will however, both start work on the painting as and when they wish, not being set role of what they paint. We are BIG fans of the colour palettes they use.
The process of their collaborative painting.
Christine Relton and Tom Marine have been painting collaboratively since 1996 under the name RELTON MARINE. They also run their gallery COLOURBOX to showcase their own and other artists work at art fairs in the UK. Christine studied fine art at Leeds and Lancaster and Tom at Byam Shaw and Chelsea School of Art and both have been involved in painting and printmaking for over 30 years.
RELTON MARINE have become widely known for their original style and have paintings in permanent collection at the House of Lords, are listed in both "Who's Who in Art" and "Artists in Britain since 1945", have done many commissions for public buildings as well as private buyers and exhibit and sell their work through art fairs and with galleries throughout the UK. They are based in West Yorkshire and welcome visits to their studio there.
