ARTISTS - Henri Rousseau

Henry Rousseau had a strong colour understanding. The use of colour is cleverly used alongside the clever composition of his paintings.   We are greatly influenced by his work especially whilst designing our silk prints for our clutch bags.

FASHION - Terry De Havilland

We are very excited that Terry de Havilland, the iconic British shoe designer is opening a pop up shop in Carnaby Street, London.  The shop will open in April and will remain open till mid July.

"It's been over 30 years since I last had a flagship store and I can't wait to show it off," the 74-year-old de Havilland told Vogue.com.
They will be selling a range of styles from throughout his 60 year career so there will definitely be something for everyone!   Currently the studio is making shoes in East London for fans such as Pixie Geldof, Kate Moss, David Bowie, Bianca Jagger and Cara Delevingne.

"It's difficult to re-break a brand, but with the shop we're going to try, because without a shop, where are you? It feels like the right time to return," de Havilland says. "That 70s depression is back; everything's 50 shades of bloody grey. We need colour. We need an antidote to this weather, to this attitude. Yeah, it feels right. It feels right."

The Terry de Havilland shop is now open in London - 8 Ganton Street, London W1.  They also have an online shop to view this visit here - www.tdhcouture.com.

Tanya Ling started off as a fashion designer for Dorothee Bis and then for Christian Lacroix.  Then in 1996 Tanya Ling held her first exhibition of drawings in Gavin Turk’s studio in London, this turned out to be an amazing success as British Vogue spotted her and here she received her first commission – and the artist was born!

"There was no looking back for Tanya Ling as she has constantly been making contributions to some of the top magazines in the world such as Harper’s Bazaar and US Elle. PLACES - Mussee de la Chasse, Paris

Being animal lovers, a museum on hunting and stuffed animals at first, didn't really appeal to us.   After entering the museum we realised how the focus is on the strong relationship between humans and animals and we LOVED it here!
Each room is dedicated to an animal, with paintings, sculptures furniture based around this. It is not a 'natural history museum as you'd expect, it's more of a grand city house decorated for an eccentric prince!

Find it here!

Italian Restaurant in Belfast

Off the beaten track, Il Pirata named after the Italian cyclist Marco Pantani (the pirate), this Italian restaurant has a minimalist and urban vibe. The menu is simple, rustic with a good selection of sharing dishes and all reasonably priced.

FASHION - Envoy of Belfast

We love Envoy of Belfast for all our key pieces, great classic lines but still encompassing designs that will keep you en-pointe with the latest fashion trends.

FOOD - Tramshed

It may not be the most romantic restaurant and probably not the best option for a vegetarian, but Mark Hix's Tramshed based in Shoreditch certainly makes an impact with its menu and decor. Originally, an electricity generating station for trams, Tramshed these days serves up a simple menu consisting mainly of steak and chicken, however we think the presentation of these dishes along with the specially comissioned artwork by Damien Hirst will be the talking points at the table.

ENTERTAINMENT - BBC4's Burton & Taylor

We are SO excited about the much anticipated screening of Burton & Taylor, BBC4 Monday 22nd July 9pm.

Dominic West and Helena Bonham-Carter play one of the world's most famous couples and if the trailer is anything to go by it will be as magnetic as their real-life chemistry.

It's hard to imagine a time when the TV wasn't aired 24/7 but not so long ago we knew the real meaning of 'downtime'.  This is one of the most iconic British images of the last 50 years, the girl with her chalkboard who filled our TV screens when the BBC wasn't showing programmes (youngsters, believe it or not in the mid 70s we only had 3 TV channels and they only showed programmed from late afternoon until shortly before midnight!)
