Meet The Characters
Wilbur & Gussie were our family pets when we were growing up, and therefore integral parts of our childhood. Naming our business proved to be no easy task, until we came up with the idea to incorporate their names. Regal mongrel cat Wilbur reflects what's elegant and refined about us, and Gussie, the strong minded Westie, mirrors what's bold, and occasionally off-the-wall. All of the different styles in the range are similarly named after much loved pets belonging to family and friends.
Charlie is our signature bag, and has been named after Lucy's Blue Burmese. He's a bit of a show-stopper due to his striking good looks, but not inherently an attention seeker. He won the title for two simple reasons: he's quietly confident and head turningly handsome.
Edith was Gussie's sister, a Border terrier. Slightly over-sized, and adaptable to any social situation, her name lends itself to this versatile clutch. It's 25% larger than the Charlie bag, can be dressed up or down, and worn day or night.
Harriet is a mongrel dog. We aren't sure from which flavours she descends; she's certainly unique and feisty as can be. Harriet does things on her own terms and in her own time. She's straightforward, practical and bold. Her namesake is super simple in style and classic in design.
Archie is a graceful and nimble prize-winning Greyhound, and hence the inspiration for this sleek and slim-line clutch. He's a no-nonsense kind of chap who grooves to the beat of his own drum: kind of like the bag. There’s a handle and strap inside if you want to use them, alternatively, you can tuck them inside if you don't.
Digby is a mischievous, badly behaved and often undignified Great Dane. We don't like to think of our clutch as the latter, but the retro hardware and bold combinations of materials reflect the essence of this delinquent canine.
Boris the bold and brilliant Great Dane is stylish and very refined. His distinctive collection of neckwear means that he is always looking dapper and smart; elegant and ready to work or play. We couldn’t name our document holder after any other creature.
Monty is Charlie's brother, a Chocolate Burmese. Unlike Charlie, he is slightly squishy and likes to have his soft coat stroked. But he still has flair—the Monty bag's sparkly cut jewels are the perfect accent.
Princess was a special stray Silver Tabby cat. She appeared at the back door one day and never left. An obvious extension of the elegant Charlie, the Princess is gorgeous and immediately felt at home in the Wilbur & Gussie family.
